Colorful dining rooms!

It's been quite awhile since my last blog post. I'm super busy with design projects and this poor little blog has been neglected as of late.

But as many of you can relate too I'm knee deep in kids activities, birthday parties, sports and teen dances. And honestly, I don't want to miss a thing.

In the immortal words of Ferris Beuller....

I started this blog almost two years ago to share ideas for all of you do-it-yourselfers out there who share my passion for decorating and design. The goal of this blog has always been to share images of design work by others and myself to help inspire what you do in your own home.

In addition, I like to realistically portray the design process. You must start with an overall plan and budget for your space. Design not only takes money, it takes time to carefully plan and execute a beautiful space.
It doesn't happen overnight and your design plan can evolve into something different than originally planned over a period of time. So you're not alone in taking your time with design decisions!!

I hope I'm still accomplishing this goal .... and thanks for continuing to read:)

Okay so if you follow me on instagram you may have seen these images.

Dining rooms are typically filled with lots of hard surfaces like tables, chairs, buffets, china cabinets, consoles, etc. There are less places to add color and pattern then say a living room where there's  lots of upholstered pieces. So a great way to add color and texture to your current dining situation is on the wall! Below are two examples of rooms where I'm using colorful textured wallpaper and I love.

I've used neutral grasscloth in many spaces and I love it too but there's something about adding color and texture to a dining room that really brings the space alive.

Before
This client is keeping her grandmothers dining room pieces and wanted to keep a more traditional look with simple yet classic lines.

Where we are now....

Beautiful NEW navy textured wallpaper, host chairs, new mirror and lighting. The navy really makes her wood pieces feel rich and warm.

Still needs:
Lamps
Carpet
Draperies
New fabric for chair seats

Another fabulous example ...

Client is keeping her beautiful dining room pieces as well.

Where we are now...

We added this gorgeous kelly green phillip jeffries wallcovering, wainscoating, and sconces (not seen).

Still needs:
New buffet lamps
Carpet
Accessories

And  I love how this green room partners well with her charcoal gray family room. Loving gray and green together lately!

What do you think? Have I convinced you to go bold and colorful??

And speaking of color.... you may want to run not walk to the The Blue Octagon in Malvern. Ah-MAZING home décor!
