Before and After Villanova Residence

Villanova Residence
Before and After

Here is a project that was finished awhile ago but we just got around to photographing.

I absolutely adore working with this family and I'm so appreciative that they allowed me this opportunity and they trusted my vision!

The first room I helped transform was their cozy family room den

Here is the BEFORE

AFTER
Family Den
A study in neutrals...

Beautiful new built-ins were added to give height and dimension and architectural interest to the room. We also added brass library sconces from Visual Comfort and roman shades with simple greek key trim.

I love the warmth of the worn leather sofa from Restoration Hardware and the coolness of the dark gray walls. It's truly one of my favorite combinations.

We chose chelsea gray walls paired with lots of white for high contrast and to add depth and light to the space.

We also mixed metals and textures in styling the bookshelves... brass, mercury glass, lacquer, driftwood and creamy white objects.

It's all in the details...

We added a pair of mirrors flanking the bar area to make the space feel larger and reflect light from the large picture window.

The bar cabinetry was painted high-gloss white and the hardware was upgraded to a brass faucet and marble counter tops and back splash were added.

did u spy camera? need to photoshop these pics ha!

Loved keeping this space neutral. I think most people like my colorful designs but I do love designing neutral spaces too!

Moving right along ...scenes from  the "before" Dining Room

Dining Room NOW! WOW!

We kept the window treatments and most of my client's beautiful furniture so we jazzed up the space with green grass cloth from Phillip Jeffries, new host chairs with pillow fabric from Aerin Lauder's line for Lee Jofa  and colorful modern art. The grasscloth has now become the star of the show!!

We also upgraded the lighting with classic yet modern fixtures from Visual Comfort and leopard lamps from Dana Gibson.

Table by oopmh sits next to window seat

And let's not forget this lovely little powder with Scalamandre and a striped roman...

SORRY no before

Tweaking a client's space

I have this awesome new client whose style is what I would call sophisticated cottage. She called me in to help her tweak her space and "finish" the room.

Easy job for me... she has great taste.

So I'm going to show you where we started and where we are now.

Warning: not a dramatic transformation since where we started was pretty fab.

Here's where we started

Here's a peek at where we are now

Host chairs - Restoration Hardware
Light- Horchow
Monogram - Tibbar Tibbar Wayne, PA
Topiary - trade item

We replaced the heavy, wrought iron light fixture with a pretty chandelier from Horchow. We removed the piano and bird print from the back wall and are commissioning a new piece of art for that space. We replaced the white queen ann chairs with square cane back chairs for a more formal feel and added host chairs with monogrammed slip covers.

Here's where we started with the china cabinet

Where we are now

Square back cane chairs - Restoration Hardware
Clients own pottery and coral from Pottery Barn

This was a simple fix. All we did was streamline her collection of plates and pitchers and made the vignette symmetrical and added the pretty, modern geometric Thibaut wallpaper to the back of the cabinet. All we need to do now is change out the hardware for a more sleek look.

Here's where we started on the other side of the room

Here's where we are now

Table lamps - Lighting by Design
Mirror and box - Home Goods

We removed the white chest and mirrored frames and replaced them with a more modern chest and an on-trend round mirror. This really added a lot of warmth and texture to the room:)

We still have some more updates to make so stay tuned and
thanks for reading!!! xoxo

Four things under $30 that changed my life and more client progress on client's neutral, dark gray room...

I hate to iron. In fact I NEVER iron.
I hate to look wrinkled even more.
Enter...

My Little Steamer

HSN
$29.99

I use it for all my clothes and to steam wrinkles out of draperies.
Does it work,  you ask?
Like a charm.

Bobby Brown's
Pot Rouge Lips and Cheeks
in Pale Pink 11

bobbi brown
$26.99
Looks a lot like clown makeup but looks so natural on!

Best. Hairspray. Ever

$14.99 available at drugstores everywhere

Lavender Vanilla oil post shower.
European women treat themselves to crèmes and oils and really take care of their skin. When I use the oil I feel kinda worldly and exotic. And it smells so good and I swear it relaxes me!!:) Hence the name SLEEP.
And just a dab will do!

 Bath and Body works
$16.99

Okay so the construction is complete on my client's room. Fireplace, built-ins, lighting, and bar hardware and counter top installed. But we still have a looooong way to go.

The feel of this room is traditional with a few modern yet sophisticated touches. All fabrics and upholstery are either leather, crypton,  sunbrella or coated because they have 3 small, beautiful kids under the age of 7.

I stopped in today so I thought I would show you the latest and greatest!
And show you where it all started.

And of course in typical fashion these are crappy iphone pictures.

Bar area BEFORE

 NOW

Cabinet was painted high gloss white. Marble counter top and brass hardware was added.
Walls were painted Chelsea grey by Ben Moore.

Oh and the baby seat? by GRACO.
I swear this client has the cutest sweetest kids ever.... just like her:)

Fireplace BEFORE

Fireplace Now

Plank Board was added and westport sconces by Circa Lighting.
I kept the remote control in there cause I'm keepin it real!

Sofa area Before

NOW

Built-ins were added along with really cool sconces also from Circa Lighting.

Now don't you worry your pretty little heads. These shelves are not styled yet -- sometimes I bring stuff from my house to give a client an idea of how we're going to style the shelves before I actually go shopping.

AND... she's hosting Easter so she will have some stuff to occupy the shelves:)

Chesterfield and coffee table both found at RH outlet

So we need to style the shelves and add a few finishing touches but the best part to be added will be these amazing window treatments... this is our inspiration!

It's gonna be awesome!!

I'm just so happy this amazing family is back in their room enjoying it after some serious construction. I can't wait for them to celebrate Easter with their family and relax and enjoy their new space!!
Thanks for reading xoxo!!
